The MSc program in Bioinformatics at RU.
Students entering this program typically have either a BSc in some highly mathematically oriented discipline (e.g. computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering) or they have a strong life science background (e.g. biology, biochemistry, biomedical technology). The program is 120 ECTS, scheduled as four semesters of study. Project work is scheduled as either one or two semesters (30 or 60 ECTS). Students with a BS in engineering have an option of graduating as MS in Biomedical Engineering with a specialization in bioinformatics.
Typical masters projects included:
- Development of algorithms or statistical methods for studying DNA sequence reads.
- RNA and protein expression analysis.
- DNA sequence analysis.
- Software development for zebrafish behaviour analysis.
- Molecular simulations.
- Data analysis and management of biological/clinical data.
