Doctoral Thesis Proposal - Eydís Huld Magnúsdóttir
Identifying various degrees of cognitive workload from speech could be the ideal method to monitor cognitive workload in employees performing safety-critical jobs, such as air traffic controllers and pilots. By applying promising speech processing methods together with machine learning methods cognitive workload monitoring will be made a feasible option. A multivariate database containing 92 participants has been collected in previous research and these recordings will be used to develop the methods needed to monitor cognitive workload. Initial findings, suggesting the impact of cognitive workload only being recognizable in the first seconds after it is introduced, will be implemented into the analysis. Air traffic control students and pilots also have taken the same tests and will that data be used to compare the three groups performance.
Fyrirlestur um rannsóknir á húsagerð og byggingareðlisfræði.
Miðvikudaginn 21. september n.k. kl. 16-17 munu sérfræðingar frá Háskólanum í Brno (David Beckovsky, Petr Selnik og Klara Necadova) halda fyrirlestur við Háskólann í Reykjavík, þar sem þeir munu kynna rannsóknir sínar í húsagerð og byggingareðlisfræði. Aðaláherslan verður á kynningu á grænum þökum (Green roofs) og stýringu afrennslis í mikilli úrkomu (Stormwater management). Einnig verður kynnt nýtt rannsóknarmiðstöð í byggingarverkfræði (AdMaS) sem byggð hefur verið upp við Háskólann í Brno (sjá http://www.admas.eu/ og http://envihut.com ).
