Abstract:

CFD simulation is conducted to analyse a development of a liquid wall annulus within a pipe flow and the liquid is introduced into the flow region with dense net of jet stream cross flows through the pipe wall.  The concept behind this analysis is the idea that a thin liquidannulus could reduce scale deposite from a silica rich geothermal fluid.  Topics related tothis fluid dynamics analysis is advance mixing induced by cross flow, between free stream and jet stream, and multiphase flow.  The CFD solver uses multiphase Eulerian model with pressure based Navier-Stokes equation and SST k-ω turbulence  model.   The  effect  ofvarious boundary conditions on the annulus development was analysed.  The jet streams hole diameter and distribution density and core flow‘s velocity and density.  Results of the simulations supported the development of water liquid annulus for both water liquid and vapor core flow. A high jet stream distribution density had more positive results than the jetstream hole diameter. The annulus was more succeptible to stratified pooling for low water vapor core velocity whereas low water liquid core velocity produced two ortho radial vortice pairs.
