Lukáš Semerád will give a lecture titled "Basics of biometrics" Tuesday August 16th at 11am in room M325.

Basics of biometrics
The presentation will explain what biometrics is, where we encounter it in everyday life and what its principles are. The presentation mentions different types of biometric features, focusing in more detail on fingerprints, the iris, and the retina - like the history of recognition, use for criminology, manual and automatic comparison of samples, storing data, etc. The final part will mention the impact of diseases on recognition, the possibilities of falsification, and protection by liveness testing.

Lukáš Semerád is a Ph.D. student at the Faculty of Information Technology, Brno University of Technology in the Czech Republic. He completed his master's degree with specialization in Cybersecurity. And now he is engaged in biometrics, specifically eye retina research. He also teaches courses in machine languages for processors, the basis of artificial intelligence and intelligent sensors. The topic of his dissertation, which he has already completed, is Theoretical and experimental determination of biometric entropy of the human eye retina.
