Title: Prison Break: A Generic Schema Matching Solution to the Cloud Vendor Lock-in Problem

Cloud providers impose the use of particular schemas to specify application services for deployment and operation. These schemas facilitate application configuration and enable automation. However, mismatches between providers' schemas hinder the application portability and lead to vendor lock-in. In this talk I will describe “Prison Break” an approach I developed that uses schema matching to address the vendor lock-in problem. I will discuss why schema matching is important to address the vendor lock-in problem, the challenges of applying schema matching in the cloud, how Prison Break address these challenges, and the latest research outcome from applying Prison Break to both public and private cloud schemas.
