What:Analyzing the speech signal

The most fundamental information channel in a human-to-human communication is speech.  The talk will describe this information channel, focusing on how speech signal comes about and the state-of-the-art methods for analyzing speech

Short bio:
Jon Gudnason completed his Ph.D. degree with the Communications and Signal Processing Group, Imperial College, London, U.K in 2007.  In 2008-2009 he was a Visiting Scholar at LabROSA, Columbia University, New York.  He has been a lecturer since 2009, at the School of Science and Engineering, Reykjavik University.  His main research topics include speech signal processing and machine learning applied to speech and sound.
