Title: What's the Big Deal with Big Data and Deep Learning?
Abstract: Why have neural networks all of a sudden become so hot, again, in the last three years? (And what were neural networks, anyway?) How are the neural networks today different than before? What applications are they already good at? Are they much better than the previous best methods? What can we expect them to be able to do, in the future? The talk will give answers to all of these questions, from a Google-centric, application-driven standpoint, using slides cribbed from Jeff Dean and Greg Corrado, the leaders of Google's deep-learning efforts.
