This weekend, on September 26–27, Design Thing will take place in Húsavík, an annual festival of design and innovation that has grown rapidly and become one of the most exciting platforms for the creative industries in Iceland.

On this occasion, the second of four Snjallræði workshops will be held alongside the festival. The workshop will be led by the University of Akureyri and is intended to connect Snjallræði’s innovation design with the dynamic platform of the conference.

The University of Iceland and Reykjavík University are also participating in the workshop. This past August, the three universities signed a cooperation agreement on the joint project management of Snjallræði.

This year’s theme is food and how it manifests in design and innovation. The programme includes talks, workshops, happenings, exhibitions, concerts, and culinary events. Among the guests are both local and international experts, ranging from entrepreneurs to designers and artists. approach with the dynamic melting pot that the festival provides.

During the workshop, entrepreneurs will continue developing their ideas through venture design methods, while also taking part in the diverse Design Thing program. In this way, the focused work within Snjallræði is combined with the festival’s open forum, where networking, reflection, and inspiration play a key role.

Since its establishment in 2018, Snjallræði has been a leading platform for the development of solutions that promote sustainability and social progress. The project has created opportunities for students, recent graduates, and university staff to work on real-world challenges with the support of experts and partners from industry.
