Reykjavik University Logo

About the Logo

The Reykjavik University logo was designed by graphic designers Alli Metal and Annetta Scheving in 2009. Inspired by the university’s main building at Nauthólsvík, the logo symbolizes the creation and dissemination of knowledge. It reflects the energy, ambition, and innovation that define RU's mission.

The elements forming the circular design touch, overlap, and create a sense of movement or flow. These elements vary in size and shape but come together to form an essential whole. The open design, with elements extending outward from the center, represents the flow of people and knowledge radiating from the core, symbolizing the sharing of ideas and learning.

Colour

The red colour embodies energy, courage, vitality, willpower, ambition, realism, and warmth. As one of the primary colours, red is the most prominent colour perceived by the human eye.

Circular Form

The circular design of the logo has no beginning or end, symbolizing unity, wholeness, infinity, and the universe.

Usage Guidelines

External use of the Reykjavik University logo is prohibited without permission from the Marketing and Communications Office.
