Junsoo Lee is a Professor of Economics and the William White McDonald Distinguished Faculty Fellow at the Department of Economics, Finance, and Legal Studies of the University of Alabama, USA. He earned his MA and Ph.D. in economics from Michigan State University in 1991. Before joining the University of Alabama in 2003, Professor Lee taught at Vanderbilt University as an Assistant Professor and at the University of Central Florida as an Associate Professor. His primary areas of research have been in time series econometrics, financial economics, and empirical macroeconomics. He has published his research papers in numerous academic journals, including the Review of Economics and Statistics, International Economic Review, Econometric Theory, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Econometric Reviews, Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Time Series Analysis, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Journal of Health Economics, and Studies in Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics.
In 2018, he served as President of the Korea-America Economic Association. Additionally, he has been an Associate Editor for the Journal of Empirical Finance, Economic Modelling, and the Journal of Economics and Finance, and he is a member of the editorial boards of several related journals.
He has had a significant impact on the profession, with more than 12,000 Google Scholar citations. One of his papers, “Minimum Lagrange Multiplier Unit Root Test with Two Structural Breaks,” has been cited 3,600 times; the number of citations has been growing robustly even in recent years, two decades after its publication in 2003. It is one of the top 10 most cited papers in the Review of Economics and Statistics. His name appeared on Elsevier - Stanford University’s 2024 World’s Top 2% Scientists list.
