Allocation from the University Partnership Fund: research infrastructure for geothermal energy, well-being studies, and a research center for cybersecurity studies

The third allocation from the University Partnership fund took place yesterday, with a total of nineteen projects receiving support this time. Reykjavík University (RU) is leading three collaborative projects: research infrastructure for geothermal energy, well-being studies, and a research center for cybersecurity studies.

The research infrastructure for geothermal energy is a collaborative project with the University of Iceland, receiving ISK 65 million in funding. The project aims to establish shared facilities for research on the utilization of geothermal fluids.

The well-being studies project is a collaboration between RU, the University of Iceland, and the University of Akureyri. It received ISK 61.1 million in funding. The project aims to create an interdisciplinary MSc program in well-being studies. In addition to the three Icelandic universities, the Directorate of Health and the University of Surrey are also involved.

The research center for cybersecurity studies is another collaboration between RU, the University of Iceland, and the University of Akureyri. This project was awarded ISK 67.3 million in funding. A research center in cybersecurity will be established, which includes the development of a new doctoral program in collaboration between RU and the University of Iceland.

In addition to these three projects led by RU, the university is also participating in seven other collaborative projects, including disaster science education, high-tech agriculture, and a research center on suicide prevention.
