Iceland School of Energy Hosts Energy Study Trip with Hochschule Biberach

The Iceland School of Energy (ISE) is proud to celebrate its growing partnership with Hochschule Biberach (HBC) in Germany, a collaboration that bridges renewable energy expertise with business acumen. Over the past year, this partnership has fostered opportunities for students and faculty through dual degrees in Sustainable Energy at ISE and Energy Management at HBC.
This week, we welcomed our partners from HBC to Iceland for a transformative, weeklong Energy Study Trip. Designed to deepen knowledge and foster collaboration, the trip featured a mix of engaging lectures, company visits, and field experiences, all highlighting Iceland’s leadership in renewable energy.
Key Highlights of the Study Trip
- Green by Iceland: A platform fostering green solutions and climate collaboration.
- ON Power (Hellisheiði Geothermal Station): Exploration of geothermal energy production and future technologies.
- Carbfix: Pioneering work on carbon capture and sequestration, showcasing innovative climate solutions.
- Reykjanes Peninsula: Witnessing the region’s volcanic eruption, a living demonstration of Iceland’s unique geological activity driving its renewable energy systems.
Building a Sustainable Future
This trip is a cornerstone of our collaboration, laying the foundation for future partnerships between ISE and HBC. Supported by the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung GGmbH through the BWS Plus program, this initiative provides students with invaluable opportunities to explore sustainable energy solutions in an international context.
We extend our gratitude to Jochen Weilepp for his leadership in making this partnership a success. Together, we’re shaping a brighter, more sustainable future.
