Create Your Future at Reykjavik University

Choosing the right university is a crucial decision, as it marks the first step toward shaping the future you want. On Tuesday, the 26th of May, Reykjavik University will host an Open House, where faculty, staff, and students showcase the university’s programmes, facilities, and services.

At Reykjavik University, education emphasises a solid academic foundation, hands-on internships, and practical projects carried out in collaboration with businesses and organisations. Assessment methods are varied, and students work extensively in groups, often on interdisciplinary projects.

Rúnar Gauti Gunnarsson, BSc in Business Administration and president of SFHR (the Student Association of Reykjavík University) for the 2026–2027 academic year.

What I have probably learned most from my experience at RU is the importance of daring to step outside your comfort zone. Taking part in something new, attending events, or simply following through on what you genuinely want to do. Often, the best memories and strongest connections are created exactly that way. It is completely natural to feel stress and excitement at the beginning of university studies, but I quickly realised how easy it is to get to know people at RU and become part of the community.

Says Rúnar Gauti Gunnarsson, BSc in Business Administration and president of SFHR (the Student Association of Reykjavík University) for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Quickly becoming part of the HR community

Students at RU have countless opportunities to get to know their fellow students, become part of the HR community, and build valuable connections for the future. Rúnar Gauti adds that student life is one of RU’s greatest strengths, and that SFHR, along with its member associations, plays a major role in it.

Every year, a variety of events are held where everyone can find something that suits them. These include orientation days for new students, Olympic Week, the student associations’ annual celebrations during the autumn semester, and SFHR’s grand annual celebration in the spring semester. In addition, there is always a lively atmosphere on campus, and it is easy to meet new people through both studies and social activities.

I encourage all new students to make good use of their time, try new things, and participate. University studies can give you much more than just a degree if you are willing to take part in everything that interests you and seize opportunities when they arise.

Says Rúnar Gauti.

An open house will be held at Reykjavík University on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Teachers, students, and staff will warmly welcome guests and introduce them to all undergraduate programs at RU. Members of SFHR will also be on site to welcome those considering their next steps.
