International Students Welcomed at Reykjavik University

Our Orientation Days, when Reykjavik University opened its doors to around 140 exchange students from 17 countries earlier this month, were packed with activities such as:

  • A welcome breakfast with Ólafur Eysteinn Sigurjónsson, Dean of the School of Technology and the International Office
  • Faculty introductions and a mini Icelandic language course
  • Tips for a greener lifestyle in Iceland from the Environment Agency
  • A fun treasure hunt in downtown Reykjavík with our amazing RU mentors
  • And to top it all off, a big BBQ for all new students on campus!

Students also took part in a city treasure hunt in downtown Reykjavik with their mentors.

This autumn’s group comes mainly from Germany,  France,  Italy, Denmark,  and Sweden, but also from across Europe and as far as Jordan, Syria, Vietnam, the USA, and Cameroon.

Such diversity makes our community richer every year! We would also like to give special shout-out to our RU student mentors. Their energy and support are invaluable in helping new students settle in and feel at home.
