Kristján Vigfússon Promoted to Assistant Professor at Reykjavík University
Kristján Reykjalín Vigfússon has been promoted to Assistant Professor in the Department of Business and Economics at Reykjavík University. The promotion committee consisted of Dr Sveinn Vidar Guðmundsson, Professor at Reykjavík University (Chair); Dr John Steen, Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia; and Dr Rakel Heiðmarsdóttir, Assistant Professor at Bifröst University.
Kristján holds a PhD in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from the University of Iceland, which he completed in 2025. His doctoral research focused on strategy implementation within the Icelandic fisheries industry. He has nearly two decades of teaching experience at Reykjavík University, having taught over 60 courses in Strategy, Negotiations, Sustainability, and International Business. He has supervised more than 20 BSc theses and numerous MSc and MBA projects, and served as the Director of the MBA programme for 6 years.
His research builds upon his doctoral work and includes peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Marine Policy and the Journal of Strategy and Management. Beyond academia, he actively contributes to public and professional life through consulting, frequent media commentary, and roles including serving as a board member of The European Movement in Iceland and as former Chairman of EFTA/EEA working groups in Brussels.
