NeurotechEU Student Workshop held at RU
The NeurotechEU Student Workshop, held at Reykjavik University in autumn 2025, introduced students to the alliance that bridges neuroscience and technology.

The event began with Lisa Maria Wu, Scientific Coordinator at RU, who presented NeurotechEU’s mission and its opportunities for students in research, education, and international collaboration.

Student representatives, Telma Ósk Þórhallsdóttir and Lorena Guerrini, shared their experiences, emphasising student engagement, mobility programmes, and research initiatives. Telma discussed the Student Council’s role and collaboration with other European student communities, while Lorena described her research and highlighted how NeurotechEU supports academic growth through summer schools, networking, and research collaboration.

Industry talks from Nox Medical and Össur showcased real-world applications of neurotechnology and innovation. Þóra Sigmarsdóttir from Nox Medical presented advances in sleep diagnostics, explaining how EEG and AI models are used for sleep analysis and clinical decision-making.

Sophie Tiele and Valentina Betti from Össur shared insights into prosthetic innovation, focusing on improving user experience and embodiment through AI, sEMG control, and neurotechnology-based feedback. They also described collaborative research with RU involving EEG and motion analysis (BioVRSea) to measure cognitive load in prosthesis use.
The workshop concluded with lab visits and networking, which fostered stronger connections among students, researchers, and industry partners.
