Scholarships were awarded at the Dean’s List Ceremony of Reykjavík University
Scholarships were awarded at the Dean’s List Ceremony of Reykjavík University on February 3rd, where students received recognition for outstanding academic achievement. On this occasion, 63 students were named to the President’s List, and two students received scholarships from the University Fund.

Dr Ragnhildur Helgadóttir, Rector of Reykjavík University, delivered a speech at the ceremony. In her speech, she emphasised the importance of achieving results while reminding students that responsibility for priorities and demands ultimately rests with them. She also discussed HR’s role in preparing society for the future:
“And we do this by creating and sharing knowledge—and by educating the people society needs. That is why we not only celebrate your achievements with you, but we are also proud of them, because they show that we are successfully sharing knowledge and succeeding in our mission to prepare society for the future by ensuring that people possess the skills and expertise that are needed. This is a source of joy for us all.”

Karen Nordquist Ragnarsdóttir, an engineering student, delivered a speech on behalf of the students. In her address, Karen said that it is human and natural to sometimes doubt one’s own abilities, and some might even say that such doubt can be moderately healthy. However, everyone who achieves real success also knows that it is first and foremost the result of hard work.
“There is no need to explain this to the group gathered here today. The President’s Scholarship is awarded only to exceptional students, and few are gifted with the ability to absorb knowledge effortlessly. All high achievers know that reaching their goals requires great effort—but that effort is often rewarded, and the satisfaction that follows a job well done is genuine and well earned.”
Ásthildur Gunnarsdóttir, Director of Communications, chaired the ceremony, and deans of the academic departments presented the awards to the students. President’s Scholarships are awarded to students who achieve the highest academic results each semester and are thus recognised for their excellence.
