Ewa Lazarczyk

Ewa Lazarczyk Carlson is an economist whose research focuses on how energy markets, regulation and public policy shape the transition to more sustainable energy systems. Her work brings an economic perspective to questions that are often approached primarily from the technical side, including electricity-market design, energy security, renewable-energy integration and environmental policy.

With a PhD in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics, Ewa’s research spans industrial organisation, microeconometrics, electricity markets and environmental economics. Her work has examined topics including Nordic electricity markets, European energy-market regulation, green hydrogen, electric vehicles and the economic implications of changing power systems.

Connecting Technology with Markets and Policy

For ISE students, Ewa’s perspective helps connect energy technologies with the economic systems in which they operate. Understanding how electricity is priced, how markets respond to renewable generation, how regulation influences investment and how energy security affects policy decisions is an important part of understanding the wider energy transition.

Ewa is also affiliated with the Sustainability Institute and Forum at Reykjavík University and is a Research Fellow at CERRE, extending her work beyond the university into wider European discussions around energy markets and regulation.
