Leading Innovations in Geothermal Research and Engineering
Dr. María Sigríður Guðjónsdóttir is an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering at Reykjavik University, Iceland and a unit leader in Mechanical Engineering and Energy Systems at the department. She is a mechanical engineer and has over 20 years of experience in geothermal utilization, both in industry and academia.

Her main research focus is on geothermal utilization, the main passion is to developing solutions on how to increase efficiency and reduce cost of geothermal utilization. She emphasizes on collaboration with the industry, with the added value of using real data from geothermal fields in her research.
She has taught various courses in the field of energy engineering and supervised more than 30 MSc students and 6 PhD students. She has also been teaching courses for the GRO Geothermal program and is a member of the study board for GRO.
