697 students graduated from RU

697 students graduated from Reykjavik University on Saturday. Graduation ceremonies took place in Eldborg in Harpa; the School of Technology graduated before noon and the School of Social Sciences in the afternoon.  

19 students graduated with a PhD from RU this year, which is a record number in the University's history. The first student to complete a PhD from the Department of Sport Science graduated on Saturday, 11 students graduated with a PhD from the Department of Computer Science, five students completed a PhD from the Department of Engineering and two students graduated with a PhD from the Department of Business and Economics.

326 students graduated from the School of Technology, 225 men and 101 women. Most students graduated from the Department of Engineering, a total of 143, 95 completed undergraduate studies and 43 graduated from master’s programmes. 142 students graduated from the Department of Computer Science. 119 graduated from undergraduate studies and 12 from master’s studies. 41 students graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, all of whom completed their undergraduate studies.

371 students graduated from the School of Social Sciences, 160 men and 211 women. A total of 48 graduated from the Department of Sport Science. 27 completed undergraduate studies and 20 master's degrees. 90 students graduated from the Department of Law. 47 students graduated from undergraduate studies from the faculty and 43 from master's studies. From the Department of Psychology, 100 students graduated. 67 graduated from undergraduate studies and 33 completed master's studies. 133 students graduated from the Department of Business and Economics. 82 graduated from undergraduate studies and 16 graduated from master's studies.

Dr. Ragnhildur Helgadóttir, President of RU, gave a speech, as well as Eva Rut Bernhöft Reynisdóttir, who graduated with a BSc in Management Engineering, and Sveinn Sær Vattnes Ingólfsson, who graduated with a BSc in Sport Science, gave speeches on behalf of the graduating students.

Dr. Ólafur Eysteinn Sigurjónsson, Dean of the School of Technology, gave a speech at the graduation of students from the School of Technology, and Dr. Bryndís Björk Ásgeirsdóttir, Dean of the School of Social Sciences, gave a speech at the graduation of students from the School of Social Sciences.
