One of the featured workshops, Neurodiversity – Best Practices for Higher Education, will be led by Grischa Liebel, Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science. The workshop will focus on educational practices that best support neurodiverse students. Artificial Intelligence for Gender Equality

Wednesday, February 11

This interdisciplinary workshop aims to initiate a dialogue on how artificial intelligence can be used to address what has been described as a backlash in gender equality efforts. The initiative focuses on applying AI for the benefit of society, rather than solely highlighting its societal challenges.

The workshop marks the first step in a broader collaborative effort involving the academic community, technology-sector stakeholders, and representatives of non-governmental organisations working toward gender equality. The program will include lectures and panel discussions, with audience members invited to help shape future perspectives.

Registration is required.

Opportunities for Women in Artificial Intelligence

Tuesday, February 10

As part of the newly established Pan-European Women in AI working group, Reykjavík University will host panel discussions and an interactive workshop exploring the value women bring to the development of artificial intelligence and the opportunities AI can create for gender equality, women’s health, and more. The event will also include networking opportunities.

The Women in AI working group was founded by the European Digital Innovation Hub in Iceland in 2025 and is partially funded by the European Commission. Its goal is to connect and empower women in deep tech and artificial intelligence.

The aim of this event is to further define the group’s direction and encourage new members to join. Everyone is welcome to help shape the future of artificial intelligence.

Registration is required.

Possibilities: Game Design and Future Visions

Monday, February 9

Video games allow players to explore different possibilities and experiences by experimenting with new rules, roles, and systems within interactive environments. This lecture will explore how game design—whether for entertainment or social impact—can make such possibilities tangible and create space for experimentation and dialogue.

The lecture will be delivered by Elín Carstensdóttir, Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science at Reykjavík University, who conducts research in game design and storytelling at CADIA, the university’s Artificial Intelligence Institute.
