Many exciting opportunites for students within NeurotechEU
Stefán Magni Stefánssonn recently attended the European Student Assembly in Strasbourg on behalf of the university through the NeurotechEU university network. At its core, the assembly brings together students from different countries and universities to discuss specific issues and put forward policy recommendations. Students bring their knowledge, perspectives, and experiences to the table and work together on ideas about what could be improved or done differently.
I was in a group working on the circular economy. There were four of us on the team, and we worked on two proposals that were later approved. It was both fun and educational to work with people coming from completely different circumstances and backgrounds than my own.

Says Stefán Magni, adding that the trip resulted in valuable connections, and that what stood out most was finally meeting the people he had been interacting with online for several months beforehand.
What stands out most to me is meeting all these incredibly smart and fun people, going out to eat together, talking, and eventually being able to call many of them good friends. It was also interesting to see that we are all, in reality, in a fairly similar place, even if some people are further along in their studies. Everyone is simply trying their best, wanting to do something interesting, and enjoy life.
Stefán Magni says that NeurotechEU certainly opens doors to connections with other universities and opportunities that he plans to follow closely in the future. There are many opportunities available that benefit students at Reykjavík University, whether at the bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral level. In fact, after participating in the European Student Assembly, he feels the future is now a blank page rather than before.
Honestly, I don’t have as clear a picture of the future now as I did before. That is a little uncomfortable, but at the same time exciting, because I realised there are far more opportunities available than I originally thought. I had planned to finish my studies, work in a role where business and technology intersect, and possibly continue building my own projects alongside that. But now it feels as though the path I was on has actually disappeared, and I could head in many more directions.
Stefán Magni says he has always had a strong interest in economics and business, while computer science became an exciting addition. He has enjoyed his studies, particularly because the material is practical and connected to real-world situations. That suits him well, as he likes to understand why something matters and how it can be applied in practice.
