Melange is a new RU startup
Hugo Félicien Thomas Cazaux, a specialist at Reykjavik University’s Department of Engineering, and Thibault Davaine, a data solutions lead, have founded the company Melange in collaboration with RU.
Melange aims to provide businesses with forecasting services, data and AI consulting. The company is developing a software solution that transforms operational data into actionable forecasts, fills gaps in data, and detects anomalies, without requiring clients to have specialised expertise in forecasting.
The solution is built on Melange’s proprietary foundation model for time series, which is adapted to each client’s data and retrained as circumstances change. It can either be offered as a hosted service or run entirely on the client’s own infrastructure, ensuring that sensitive data does not leave the client’s systems.

"Reykjavik University's involvement has been crucial for Melange: through the start-up program, we are able to reach out to industry partners and the research services to help us find clients and grant opportunities," says Hugo, one of Melange’s founders.
RU’s startup strategy aims to support and increase the number of startups emerging from within the university.
Initially, Melange will focus on Icelandic companies and operators in the energy, infrastructure and industrial sectors. According to Hugo, the establishment of Melange strengthens the links between research, innovation and industry, while creating new opportunities for further development and collaboration.
