Results of the Quality Assurance Review of Reykjavík University: A Strong Quality Culture Across All Units and Comprehensive, Holistic Student Support

The institutional review conducted by the Icelandic Agency for Quality Assurance of Reykjavík University has now been completed. The review committee concluded that Reykjavík University has passed the institutional review. However, the Board of the Quality Assurance Agency has requested that the status of two improvement projects be reviewed again after two years, while otherwise confirming the review committee’s report.

The review states that in the area of teaching and learning, links with industry are outstanding, with a strong emphasis on graduate employability and holistic support for students. In the areas of research and innovation, the environment is described as encouraging and supportive, with an increasing number of published articles and successful acquisition of external research funding.

Dr. Ragnhildur Helgadóttir, president of RU:

“The review committee’s report is both positive and encouraging. With regard to the decision of the Board of the Quality Assurance Agency on the need for a follow-up review of items 2 and 7, it should be noted that these are among the improvement projects that we at Reykjavík University identified ourselves, and all of the projects mentioned will lead to improvements. I am proud of the staff of Reykjavík University, both for their work on the self-evaluation report, the preparation for the review committee’s site visit, and their ongoing work on quality matters.”

The review findings include recommendations for improvement projects, primarily related to the student information system and a comprehensive quality management system.
