RU Students take part in groundbreaking project with CCP Games

Two students from Reykjavik University's School of Computer Science are working on a project that has received some well-deserved interest lately. Project Discovery is the name of the project, a collaboration between RU and CCP Games that among other things develops the popular game EVE Online.

Recently, Newsweek published an article online about Project Discovery, interviewing Dr. Michael Mayor, professor at the University of Geneva and discoverer of the first exoplanet in 1995 - planets that orbit a star other than the Sun. Dr. Mayor is the manager of Project Discovery where EVE Online players help find new, undiscovered exoplanets by "analyzing light patterns and other real-world data to see what's out there in the void of space", as it says in the Newsweek article. The role of the RU students is to program the mini-game Project Discovery inside EVE Online.
