RU’s AI Centre to host the Nordic AI Meet conference
The Nordic AI Meet 2026 conference will take place on 14–15 October at Hotel Askja in Reykjavík. RU’s Centre for Analysis and Design of Intelligent Agents, CADIA, is hosting the conference in collaboration with NORA and the Nordic AI Partnership (NAIP). This will be the sixth edition of the conference and the first time it has been held in Iceland.
The conference is designed as a forum for early-career researchers working in artificial intelligence across the Nordic countries, including PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and early career researchers in AI.
The programme for Nordic AI Meet 2026 will feature 24 presentations, five keynote speakers, one industry talk, and 52 posters on display.
Halla Tómasdóttir, President of Iceland, will join the board of CADIA for a fireside chat on AI for Good in the Nordics.
The keynote speakers are Aasa Feragen, Professor at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at DTU; Leonora Vesterbacka, founding data scientist at Redpine in Stockholm; Malcolm Langford, Professor of Public Law at the University of Oslo and co-director of TRUST, the Norwegian Centre for Trustworthy AI; Dorota Glowacka, Associate Professor at the University of Helsinki; Iris Edda Nowenstein, Assistant Professor in Icelandic Linguistics and Language Technology at the University of Iceland and a practising speech-language pathologist at Landspítali University Hospital; and Finnur Pind, founder of Startup Iceland 2022 and co-founder of Treble Technologies.
Iceland participates in a wide range of Nordic AI collaborations, and Icelandic participants at the conference will present their research, including work on AI in culture and creativity.
A diverse programme and the crowning of the Nordic AI Cup champion
The conference presentations will cover the technical aspects of AI, language models, and agents, as well as AI in democracy and society, culture and creativity, health and welfare services, and science and engineering.
The Nordic champion of the Nordic AI Cup competition will also be crowned on the second day of the conference, 15 October. The full Nordic AI Meet programme is available here.
The day before the conference begins, on 13 October, a symposium entitled Rethinking AI will be held at HR. It is organised by a Nordic collaborative network of social sciences and humanities researchers working on artificial intelligence.
