Sæmundur Friðjónsson has been appointed Head of Information Technology at Reykjavik University and began his position in June.

The IT Department at RU manages the university’s computer systems, provides user support for students and staff, oversees system operations and software development, and supports the university’s research activities. The department serves over 5,200 students and staff, reflecting the wide range and complexity of the tasks it handles daily.

Sæmundur brings extensive experience in IT management and operations. Since 2012, he has worked at Reykjavik Energy as Head of Information Technology, and prior to that, he held positions at Vodafone.

He holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Iceland and an MSc in Management from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Spain.
