Students and Staff of Reykjavik University Bead Bracelets for Young People with Cancer
Students and staff at Reykjavik University sat down yesterday to make beaded bracelets for Kraftur, a support organization for young people who have been diagnosed with cancer and their families.

According to Rakel Gunnarsdóttir, Project Manager at the university’s Communications Division, the activity was a welcome break as exam season approaches:
It was a nice way to unwind and let our minds wander for a while. We’ve done similar things before, like puzzles and mindfulness sessions, but this time we wanted to do something good for others — to bead bracelets for young people with cancer. We invited Kraftur to join us and now we challenge the other universities to do the same!

Eva Sigrún Guðjónsdóttir, Marketing and Communications Manager for Kraftur, points out that the ‘Life is Now’ bracelets are an important part of Kraftur’s fundraising efforts:
The organization is entirely run through donations from individuals and companies, as well as sales from our online store. It was therefore invaluable to have RU join us today — the RU community made hundreds of bracelets, which will be a wonderful addition to Kraftur’s jewelry collection.
