Successful evacuation drill at RU

On Monday, September 14, the Safety Committee of Reykjavik University conducted an evacuation drill at the university with the aim of ensuring that staff and students know how to evacuate the premises in the event of an emergency.

The drill was carried out by having staff and students leave the building as soon as the emergency alarms sounded. Staff and students then followed the instructions of the evacuation coordinators and other emergency response personnel, with particular emphasis placed on using the stairs and never the elevators when evacuating the building.

Participants left the building through the nearest safe exit and proceeded directly to the designated assembly points outside the university, where they waited for further instructions.

The management of RU would like to thank the staff and students for their participation in the successful evacuation drill. The Safety Committee would also like to emphasize that if the emergency alarms sound, everyone must leave the RU building immediately, even if it is not clear what the danger is.
