Successful speed-date at RU

RU Career Days 2026 took place at Reykjavík University on Thursday, January 22. Representatives from 61 companies and institutions presented their operations in Sólin at RU. Career Days were very well attended, with many students and guests exploring opportunities for the future.

In addition, a new feature was introduced this year: micro-job interviews for students. A large number of students participated in the interviews, with 22 companies taking part overall, and the atmosphere at the event was lively and positive.

Sandra Björk Bjarkadóttir from the Human Resources Department at Icelandair, pictured here with her colleagues, was among those welcoming students and said the event had been a great success.

We’ve received great questions and thoughtful reflections from the students, and we were just discussing how they generally seem very well prepared. When it comes to job interviews in general, it’s perfectly normal to be nervous—it’s a big step. But my best advice would be to be yourself and show who you really are.

Says Sandra Björk.

Lísa Margrét Óskarsdóttir, a student of Mechanical Engineering, was pleased with the event. She said the micro interviews were good preparation for upcoming job interviews and that they had also made her aware of new career opportunities within companies.

Skarphéðinn Vernharðsson is completing a master’s degree in law at RU. He said it was useful to stop by for a conversation and get a feel for what job interviews are like. He had already had good conversations with Intellecta and Icelandair and was on his way to more micro interviews when he was interviewed.

Students had productive conversations with representatives from more than 20 companies.

Career Days are held annually at Reykjavík University to give university students across Iceland the opportunity to explore companies and a wide range of summer jobs, future employment, and project-based work.
