Two RU teams won the University of Iceland Design Competition

The team RAM æturnar won first place in the University of Iceland Design Competition, held at UTmessan in Harpa last weekend. The team consists of Skírnir Eiríksson, a mechanical engineering student, and Valgarð Ernir Emilsson, a software engineering student at RU.

The two teammates were, understandably, very pleased with the results and the outcome of the hard work that went into it.

It was incredibly fun to participate in this competition and rewarding to see the approximately 40 hours of work we put into our robot come to life. It would have been more fun to achieve a run where nothing went wrong, but the imperfect run in the first round was enough to secure victory, and we are extremely happy that everything went so well.

Say Skírnir and Valgarð Ernir.

The team RU Robotics also received recognition for the most original design. The team included Chloe Alex Schaff, a PhD student in computer science; Ingólfur Daníel Árnason and Norbert Maksymilian Kania; Andri Benedikt Egilsson; and Páll Hlíðar Svavarsson, all students in electrical engineering.

Chloe, who was participating in this type of competition for the first time, said the competition was very successful and fun to take part in. She is pleased with the results, says the group designed a clever solution, and that it was fun to build a cool, small robot.

We warmly congratulate our outstanding students on their achievement, which will be celebrated at a special event on February 17.
