RU Awards 2024

Reykjavik University awards three staff members yearly for achievements in their field in three categories: the RU Teaching Awards, the RU Service Awards and the RU Research Awards.

The RU awards go out to employees who have excelled in development, research, teaching and student service. They were first presented in 2010.

Sigrún Þorgeirsdóttir, administrative director at the Department of Engineering, received the Service Award for 20204. Sigrún is one of the most experienced staff members within the university, and many people from all departments seek her advice.

Valdimar Sigurðsson, professor at the Department of Business and Economics, received the Research Award. His research has focused on consumer behaviour, digital media, and marketing, focusing on food and hygiene. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles and 15 book chapters and worked on research projects with companies and institutions in Iceland and abroad

Jóhann Albert Harðarson, the Department of Technology lecturer, received the Teaching Award. He has led the teaching in civil engineering and construction technology and generally receives the highest marks in teaching evaluation within his department.
