During the Icelandic presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in the year 2023, the Icelandic government's main goal is to strengthen expertise, education and training in the field of the fight against trafficking in human beings within the Nordic countries. Human trafficking is often a cross-border crime and it is a fact that victims of human trafficking cross borders from one Nordic country to another. One of the most common means of exploitation is sexual exploitation. Recruitment of victims is more often than not done via the internet or by using other technological measures.

Technology poses challenges to law enforcement and NGOS alike. The Covid-19 pandemic has laid bare the extent to which the Internet and ICT are now integral to a variety of activities and social interactions. The criminal landscape is no exception and this extends to trafficking in human beings.

The aim of the conference is to educate professionals on case-law and trends when it comes to on-line sexual exploitation. Professionals from all the nordic-countries will be invited to attend the conference, as well as specialists from the nordic-countries will be invited to give presentations on their professional experience.

All stakeholders and others interested are welcome — no admission fee.
